Forty years ago in 1970, the Vernon Township Historical Society was founded and since then has grown and worked towards the mission to preserve Vernon Township’s history. Membership of the Vernon Township Historical Society is open to the general public. Members must be dedicated to the sound management, study, protection, preservation, wise use of the historic resources of Vernon Township for the cultural, educational, and recreational benefit of the citizens of the community, state, and nation and all others who have an interest in our national heritage. Members shall subscribe to and agree to uphold and be bound by the articles and bylaws of the corporation. Membership shall be granted to qualified persons without regard to residence, occupation, or other restriction. Members shall pay a minimum annual membership fee as required by their classification:

Individual $15

Family $30

Sponsor/Benefactor $250

Life Member $200 (family $300)

Student/Senior Citizen $10

Corporate Membership $500

As a “thank you” to our members the Society offers a new benefit -- 10% discount with local select merchants when you show them your card. Your membership pays for itself when you add up the savings you will receive when you take advantage of these discounts (see list of merchants below). We thank these merchants for their generosity and support.

In addition, your membership offers you 10% discounts on our Society publications; offers you a quarterly newsletter (attached), which we still mail out to our members; and offers you monthly meetings–where we often have an informative speaker before our general meeting. Your involvement has its personal rewards, and your membership fee is tax deductible.

Our annual membership dues coincide with our fiscal year, July 1 to June 30. This has changed from our monthly collection of annual dues in the past. Anyone who has already paid dues in March through May will be included as paid for this fiscal year. If you don’t have time to volunteer, do not worry. Your donation will work for you, and we appreciate your contribution very much.
